Movie Day

Today, Dalton, Colby, and I had a little movie day. One of the things I had been wanting to do this summer was to rent a bunch of older Disney movies for the boys. If we ever go to Disney World and see many of the older characters the boys would really not even know who a lot of them are. They may recognize them from the Disney Bingo game we have but that's about it. So, we ventured to Video Warehouse today where Dalton and Colby picked out Dumbo. I kind of had a feeling we'd end up with Dumbo because Colby absolutely loves elephants so this one really jumped out to him. We came home and spread out our blanket and pillows, darkened the blinds, and of course popped up the butteriest popcorn I could find. We had so much fun that we may do it again tomorrow since it's a 7 day rental.

A Peachy Day

Yesterday, the boys and I went to Lane Packing with one of Dalton's friends from his school from this past year. We actually just went with my parents a couple of weeks ago, but I figured it would be a fun outing for the boys. We had lunch there and tried to play on the playground, but it was scorching hot and most all the equipment was just too hot to play on. Next, we took a little self-guided tour of the peaches going through the packing process. The boys really enjoyed watching the peaches going through the entire process of being cleaned, labeled, and picked out.

The Master

Yesterday Shane finished up his final class to complete his Master's degree in Education. It has taken 3 years to finish it up, but we're all happy that he's through with it all. It has taken a lot of time, money, and sometimes even irrelevant classes that didn't really apply to him to complete it. It is amazing how much just one class costs compared to when I went to college. I dread thinking about how much it will cost for college when Dalton an Colby go to school. Shane will be teaching full time this school year which is what he has wanted to do for a while and is what he feels like God is leading him into. He'll also be coaching football as well. We're so thankful that God has provided the means for Shane to teach full time and still allow me to stay home with the boys. God has truly blessed our family so much!

Shane would like everyone now to refer to him as "Master Shane" or simply just "Master".

Oh, I stole this cute picture idea from my friend Jawan's blog, who stole the idea from a different blog. Thanks Jawan! I was having trouble with the sizing. This was the best I could do since the site was written in some foreign language.

Random thoughts and pictures

Today was quite a scorcher outside! It was supposed to be up around 100 degrees so I hooked up the slip n slide for the boys to play on thinking that would be some fun for them. For some reason the slip n slide apparently just isn't Dalton's thing. He would barely even play in it. I guess he just doesn't feel like its that much fun to him. Colby on the other hand loves it! He loves playing in the water, laying in it, drinking the water, biting it, you name it. He definitely is the more adventurous one.

Then, this evening we had a cookout with some friends. Dalton and Colby were able to play in the pool and have tons of fun. I love this picture of Dalton in mid-air. Colby even jumped off the diving board for the first time ever! I was able to capture with my camera his second time ever doing it because my camera wasn't ready in time with his first jump. Oh well!

Jury Duty

Last week after arriving home from our vacation, things got cranked back up around here. I had jury duty on Monday and Tuesday while the boys went to Vacation Bible School at night at Shane's mom's church. I know a lot of people hate having jury duty and hate going, but I really wanted to go and see the whole process at work. It seems like I've been called for jury duty about 4 or 5 times but for one reason or another haven't been able to participate. I figured I'd go and be a part of jury selection but not get picked and only have to be a part of it for one day. Well, I ended up getting selected as an alternate juror so I had to come back the next day to listen to the case. It was really interesting being a part of it all. I felt kind of important as the attorneys were directing their different points toward me and the other jurors. When it was time for the deliberations to begin by the jurors, the other alternate and myself had to go to a different room by ourselves to wait while the 12 jurors deliberated the case. This part kind of stinks because you go through the whole process and then don't get to deliberate. I just wish I could have heard what all the other jurors were saying as to what they thought about the case and how they arrived on their decision. Anyway, after over 2 hours of waiting we were all finally brought back in to the courtroom to hear the decision...Guilty!

Orange Beach

We arrived back home from our vacation to Orange Beach, Alabama today. It's right next to Gulf Shores. We had tons of fun. The boys had a big time building sand castles, playing in the pool, seeing the dolphins, playing miniature golf, going to the zoo, riding the ferris wheel, and riding go-karts. Whew! It was so relaxing for me and Shane as well. We were able to have some much needed time just relaxing, reading, and spending time together as a family. Shane is required to make a digital storytelling movie in his computer class he's taking this summer (his last Master's class) and he chose to make it on "How to Have a Great Vacation" with pictures from our vacation. I was excited that he made this so I could put it on our blog. Click on the play icon below.

Small Group Cookout

This picture cracks me up at how the juice is absolutely running all down Colby's body

Colby was too busy to smile for this picture. That watermelon was too good!

Our church life group had a cookout last night. We love hangin' out with our friends in our small group. We haven't been getting together much during these busy summer weeks so it was nice to get together with everyone again. Dalton and Colby had a blast playing in the pool with Shane while I tried my best to not have to get in the pool. That water was cold.
