Happy Birthday Colby!!

Our sweet little "Joy Boy", Colby, turns 3 today. He is such a fun little guy and has brought so much joy to us all. Here below is a little snipit of the day Colby was born. I think Colby was so ready to come out and he was sure letting people know it.

First Day of School- Colby's Turn

Ready for school!

Receiving some morning instructions

"Hey Mama!"

Today, my youngest, Colby, started his first day of school in the 3 year old program at the same church preschool that Dalton attended for the last two years. He'll be going 3 days a week. He went into the classroom with absolutely no problems. I think he's probably been looking forward to this day since he's been with me dropping off Dalton every day for the past two years. He seems so little. He's the youngest in the classroom. He actually doesn't turn 3 until tomorrow. I think he had a wonderful first day... no problems and good behavior. It was kind of sad dropping him off this morning. Colby has been my little sidekick for the past 3 years (well, almost 3) either hanging off my hip, holding my hand, or just tagging along behind me. It'll be weird not having him around me in the mornings. I just don't know what I'll do with myself to have 3 mornings a week free to myself. I know Colby will learn a lot and really enjoy being around other kids his age.

First Soccer Practice

Today, Dalton had his first soccer practice. I was a little unsure about him playing soccer because I'm really not all that familiar with all the rules and Shane isn't real crazy about him playing because he just doesn't like the sport in general. But Dalton has always enjoyed playing with the soccer ball and net in our backyard, and he said that he wanted to play this year so I figured we'd give it a try. The practice went well at first when the kids had their own ball to kick around by themselves but after that, everything went downhill for Dalton. Next, they had a little 3 on 3 scrimmage. I think Dalton has never heard the phrase, "There's no I in Team" because he was not happy about other people scoring and other people taking the ball away from him. Whew! He had a bit of a meltdown right there on the soccer field. He kept saying he wanted to just quit. Ugh! I guess he's always been so used to doing whatever he wants to do with the ball at home and making Colby do whatever he tells him to do. Hopefully he'll learn a lot about teamwork and will learn to be happy whenever his team scores or does something well and not just whenever he scores.

Here's Dalton being a little dramatic apparently upon realizing that he wasn't the one to score. He's the one in the gray shirt and black shorts.

First Day Of School

Ready to leave the house for the 1st day of kindergarten

Dalton had his first day of school today. It was his first day of kindergarten. I can't believe my little boy is old enough to be in kindergarten. ~sigh~ Where does the time go? I ended up taking Dalton to school today since it was his first day of school and then Shane just met up with us once we arrived. Of course it had to be the rainiest morning of the entire summer for this big day. After driving the wrong way through the parking lot and then finding a parking spot in Timbuktu, I managed to fling my camera off of my shoulder having it roll under the parked truck next to me. Somehow my camera bag wasn't zipped very well and when I was trying to take Colby out of his carseat, my camera went flying. The camera landed under the middle of the truck where I also found a couple different parts to the camera that had fallen off, but all in all the camera still seemed functional. What a great start to the day! Anyway, we sloshed through the rain and the puddles and finally made it to the grammar school building then to Dalton's classroom.

Heading into the classroom.

I think Colby thought he was going to hang out with Dalton as well. At least Dalton's teacher was sweet enough to let Colby feed the fish in the tank. He was talking about that the rest of the day. After dropping Dalton off, Colby and I killed some time before having to pick Dalton up at 12:00 by having a little breakfast at the Waffle House, going to Wal-Mart and Target, and then going to the Macon Mall. Dalton's school is about 30-35 minutes away from our house so I really didn't feel like going all the way back home then back again in the bad weather.

Finally, here's Dalton heading out of the school with his teacher at the end of the school day. He had a great first day!

Open House

Dalton is in Kindergarten this year at a new school. Yesterday was open house at the school and he was able to go see his classroom and meet his new teacher. I think Dalton was most excited about there being an aquarium in the classroom as well as a tank holding 6 little baby turtles...at least he said there were 6 in there anyway. He's also excited about riding with Shane to school every morning because Shane will be teaching the high school students there at the school. I really like his teacher and I'm excited for Dalton and all that he'll learn this year.

Jekyll Island Wedding

Shane and I headed down to Jekyll Island this past weekend to attend the wedding of one of my oldest friends. Not that she's old, just that we've been friends for about 20 years. It was a fun and relaxing time with a nice group of their family and friends. Rebekah lives in Columbia, SC so I don't see her very often so it was great to get together with her and her family again. I'm sure Tom and Rebekah will have many happy years ahead of them.
